Gene DEWHURST is awarded the French Legion of Honor
In 2007, Gene Dewhurst and his brother David, Lieutenant-Governor of Texas, discovered a photograph of their father while they were visiting the Utah Beach Museum in Normandy. Their father had participated as a pilot to the bombardments of the German positions at Utah Beach during D-Day.
From that moment, the Dewhurst brothers, to honor the memory of a father they had barely known but abouth whom they speak with great emotion, made generous contributions to the Utah Beach Museum.
On October 2nd, "the friend from Texas", surrounded by his family, elected officials and Museum’s officials, was awarded the French Legion of Honor by Jean-François Legrand, President of the General Council of La Manche region.
It was a moment filled with emotion and a celebration of the Franco-Texan friendship!
